The Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Groff

Join me this month for Lauren Groff’s The Monsters of Templeton, in which Willie Templeton is surprised to find her mother wasn’t being truthful when she’d said she didn’t know the identify of Willie’s father — turns out her father’s still a resident of Templeton and Willie’s determined to find out who he is.

Booklist calls this debut novel, which leans heavily on James Fenimore Cooper and Cooperstown for inspiration, “A fantastically fun read, a kind of wild pastiche that is part historical novel and part mystery, with a touch of the supernatural thrown in for good measure.”
