OT: Garage Bands series kicks off at APL on 6/19

Join us on Friday, 6/19 at 6 p.m. for the first Garage Bands concert of the season!

Four Capital Region bands will perform at the summer’s first Garage Bands in the Garage concert at Albany Public Library’s Main Library on Friday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The award-winning indie/rock concert series is in its third year at Albany Public Library.

Performances by The Mysteios, Ashley Pond Band (which features Albany Public Library’s own Librarian Sarah Clark), Sea of Trees, and Ben Karis-Nix will be showcased at the free, all-ages, after-hours rock show in the garage of the Main Library at 161 Washington Avenue. The garage is in the back of the building, off of Elk Street. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and a picnic dinner.

Media partner for the 2009 Garage Bands in the Garage concert series is radio station WEXT 97.7 FM, which is online at www.exit977.org and specializes in local music.

In addition to the musical performances, the Garage Bands in the Garage concert will feature:
• CD Garage Sale in the Garage—Buy used CDs retired from the library’s vast collection for just $1 each, or $1 for a grab bag of mystery CDs without cases
• The Big Purple Bus (aka Bookmobile)—Get an Albany Public Library card and check out materials from the Bookmobile

The remaining Garage Bands in the Garage concerts are:
• July 17 featuring We are Jeneric & Space Lounge
• August 21 featuring Tern Rounders & The Black Fuel
• September 18 featuring Red Haired Strangers & Rattling Baddlies

See you there!
